THE first feature film by Melbourne writer and director Sarah Watt has won a major Canadian award at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival. Look Both Ways won the Discovery Award, which was presented on Saturday night.
The $3.2 million feature, which stars Watt's husband, William McInnes, and Justine Clarke, Anthony Hayes and Andrew S. Gilbert, was filmed in South Australia last year and follows the intersecting lives of seven characters dealing with the aftermath of a fatal train accident. It combines live action with Watt's hand-painted animation.
