Madman Entertainment are proud to announce acquisition of theatrical and DVD distribution rights for Paul Crowder's 'Once in a Lifetime'.

The feature length documentary depicts the spectacular rise and fall of the New York Cosmos. The Cosmos were quintessential late 70s sports stars ; flamboyant, famous and fabulous - their hedonism as noteworthy as their sporting prowess.

After signing Soccer legend Pele for five million dollars, the Cosmos became the Harlem Globetrotters of their code; media interest, game attendance and membership all skyrocketed accordingly.

Produced by Greene Street Films and Passion Pictures, "Once in a Lifetime: The Extraordinary Story of the New York Cosmos" is being distributed by Miramax in the US and Pathe in the UK.

Madman will take the film to Australian cinema screens in the final quarter of 2006, with a DVD release to swiftly follow. A vintage late 70s soundtrack pumps out the grooves of Junior Walker and Parliament, complimenting this time capsule of decadent late 70's New York.

Since the 80s, the USA has fallen in love with Soccer - a game hardly played or known by many Americans in the decades before.

The stature of the game in the US has grown to such a degree that the US team are being ranked #4 for the World Cup final in 2006.
